Ultrasone Edition 5 Unlimited Closed Headphones : the cups look very similar but the size and shape were tweaked to better accommodate large ears

Hello , i acquired this solution number of months back and i am acquiring enjoyment with itthe problem is the headphone cable lately i uncover it which depends on the angle of the plug to the machine i can only listen to from one facet which makes me distractedcould you inform me the place i can get a change cable as a free of charge assistance ( which cable would not have any destruction on outer surface).

Actually just one of the very best (and the most expensive & most neglected) dynamic closed cans manufactured in the latest many years but worth every single pound you invest on them. They are on par with my fostex th900 in pretty much every facet but call for less amplification. Really advisable for each and every audiophile if their value is not a trouble.

Ed 5 bears more than just a resemblance to ed 8: the headband is practically identical, the cups look very similar but the size and shape were tweaked to better accommodate large ears, there are no contact / pressure zones so overall ed 5 is more comfortable than their closed predecessors (the pro design included – i could never get a comfortable fit with signature pro for instance). The ethiopian leather pads are very similar to the old editions although i have to warn you that there is some variability in thickness / stiffness, being an organic rather than a controlled, man made material, and i find the softer, finer leather, which has a bit more give and brings the drivers closer to the ears, better sounding than the thicker ones. At least this has been my experience with edition 8 (i had several) and signature pro (i had two of those as well). Luckily my ed 5 came with the soft, fine variety of leather. The cable is now detachable, like the romeo and the cable looks better / sturdier than the old, also a more elegant solution to tailor the length / jack to your needs (previously a short cable with a small jack was fixed and one had to use adaptors / extension cables for longer lengths or desktop amp with some impact on sq). I find however the connection a bit flimsy compared to the competition, a custom affair with tiny jacks that click in some 3mm but time will tell. Unto the sound signature, out of the box the hot treble of the previous editions is no more. This is still very much the ultrasone edition sound with a slightly recessed midrange but there is more control across the frequency range, the performance is more linear, it’s an easier listen. Maybe not quite as fun and addictive as ed 8, maybe not quite as transparent (although i don’t have them anymore and my memory might not serve me well) but smoother, more refined and eminently more listenable over long sessions, also truer to the recording. For those you, like myself, previously split between the ed 8 and signature pro, i think it is safe to say that the ed 5 is the one to have, combining the best of both in a more comfortable and flexible format.

Truly one of the best (and the most pricey & most neglected) dynamic closed cans made in recent years but worth every pound you spend on them. They are on par with my fostex th900 in almost every aspect but require less amplification. Highly recommended for every audiophile if their price is not a problem.
