KRK Kns 8400 Studio Reference Headphones, Great mids, poor bass and soundstage, some niggles with the build.

I have other headphones that are 3 periods the selling price of these and these are my daily arrive at for cans. 1st off they are so mild and cozy, certainly zero difficulties listed here. You could dress in these 24/7 and knowledge no pain or exhaustion at all. They have an very mild clamping tension with a circumaural design so no ear stress on the clamp. The seem they deliver is the studio monitor style of audio, a clear, clinical supply of the audio. Just about every one audio shipped with an precision that has to be read to be considered. A person may well have to alter to this sort of seem but after you are tuned in krk have just done this kind of a wonderful task in producing this established of head telephones for the price. I don’t even individual any krk screens but use other makes but i will be acquiring krk displays up coming. The only minimal gripe i could say is i wish there was a shorter cable available for making use of with a mobile phone or an mp3 participant. The cable is higher good quality and tangle resistant but it is incredibly extensive and not seriously possible for cell use.

I bought these headphones as i wanted a new pair. My son had a pair and immediately after examining them out i purchased a pair. Theyare fantastic for my needs listening to music on my laptop computer and watching movies.

He takes advantage of them for leisure and developing songs. This was encouraged for hip hop due to krk’s frequencies they like to emphasise, but continue to seems fantastic for every little thing. For this selling price you can’t beat it.

Suit my little head just high-quality and very comfortable way too. The audio good quality is awesome, lots of many thanks pat fuller.

I have krk rocket 7 displays and have always been tremendous impressed by there quility so i had no uncertainties about these head telephones. . They are amazing for mixing and mastering songs, they give a correct seem with excellent depth.

Krk Kns 8400 Studio Reference Headphones : These headphones are very well designed have a high build quality, they are very comfortable and perform extremely well. The sound is superb and doesn’t have exaggerated bass or top end as some hi-fi headphones do. I usually use open back design headphones and have been very impressed with the accurate way these headphones deal with the low end, they are very consistent and useful when trying to judge the level of bass in a mix. I hadn’t used krk headphones before i bought the kns 8400 and i am very glad i took a chance and gave them a try, they are excellent. On the negative side, if you want to use these headphones with a portable device the supplied cable is a bit long. In summary, i think you are getting a lot for your money with these headphones and i am hard pressed to find anything i don’t like about them, they compare very favorably with other headphones i have used that are, probably, more well known.

Truly brilliant headphones, especially for the price. If you are looking to buy a pair of headphones, put brand names aside and seriously consider these as an option. The sound isolation is fantastic considering there is no charging etc. Involved (can’t hear the doorbell ring or people talking with music playing). The quality of sound for the price is also brilliant with no exaggerated bass as is common with a particular brand of popular ‘highstreet’ headphones that i won’t name nor is the treble over the top – the balance is just right. Whilst these may be targeted, or designed, for studio use, these by far have been my favourite pair of headphones yet. I can wear them for hours before they feel uncomfortable as they are reasonably light and the foam provides excellent padding whilst the sound quality is truly great. For the price (circa £110) and from personal experience, these must be a market leader. Ditch the need for well marketed brands and buy thesenote: had these headphones for over two years and are as good as new. Foam in tact in all places, cable still in excellent condition with no signs of sound compromise at all.

Excellent pair of headphones for the price. Very comfortable due to the memory foam pads. The sound is as you would expect from studio reference headphones – very neutral, clear, crisp, high quality. No exaggerated bass or treble here. Please note that these have good sound isolation. That can be a positive if you don’t want outside sound intruding on your listening experience, but i was use to my sony mdrv6, and i miss the ability to hear the doorbell while having the music up. If you don’t want sound isolation try to find the mdr v6, or go for the mdr 7506, which is essentially the same product.

Had to write a review because i just realised i’ve had these headphones for 5 years now and they are still like new. They sound quality is incredible and its amazingly comfortable to wear. I work from home on the computer, sometimes for 12 hours a day and i have these headphones on for the whole time and i can barely feel the headphones on.

Amazing sound, not bass heavy but are just what you need for monitoring sound whilst producing music. I used them djing too and worked fine in a club atmosphere. Price was brilliant for the quality you have with these.

Like the sound, but cannot wear them for long, as for me they aren’t as comfortable as i have expected based on the reviews. So i don’t really use them as much as they probably deserve sound wise.

I have other headphones that are 3 times the price of these and these are my daily reach for cans. First off they are so light and comfortable, absolutely zero issues here. You could wear these 24/7 and experience no discomfort or fatigue at all. They have an extremely light clamping pressure with a circumaural design so no ear pressure on the clamp. The sound they produce is the studio monitor style of audio, a clean, clinical delivery of the audio. Every single sound delivered with an accuracy that has to be heard to be believed. One may have to adjust to this kind of sound but once you are tuned in krk have just done such a great job in producing this set of head phones for the price. I don’t even own any krk monitors but use other brands but i will be buying krk monitors next. The only minor gripe i could say is i wish there was a shorter cable available for using with a phone or an mp3 player. The cable is high quality and tangle resistant but it is very long and not really feasible for mobile use.

Bought these headphones to replace my sennheisers which had worn out after 12 years. At the moment i am mostly using these for piano and bass practice which they are fine for. In my opinion the headphones are tuned a little bass heavy and after a good hour you need a break from using them. If i were to start recording again i would look at sennheiser instead but that is personal taste.

Brilliant reference head phones i use them when recording vocals and guitar. Although you will get great clarity from your recordings i do advise to have some monitor speakers just so that you can control/hear the bass end of your recordings.

I’m just a beginner at mixing, so i won’t be writing anything technical. Only that i was blown away at how great these sound and how much my mixes have suddenly improved because i can actually hear individual elements of the song. (i was using stereo speakers before hand, terrible i know) i bought these because i couldn’t afford the rokit 5’s which i have wanted for some time now, but these work perfectly for what i need. The biggest thing i’ve noticed is being able to hear the bass guitar correctly, and because of that i can make it sit properly in my mix all the time now. Great buy, recommended them to my friend so he’ll be purchasing soonoh one more thing, these are great for recording vocals or acoustic guitars, the click doesn’t bleed at all :).

A decent pair of headphones with plenty of definition and detail, though if using them for mastering be aware that the bottom end is a bit subdued. You’ll probably end up overcooking the bass.

Just absolutley amazing te people saying the bass response is bad probably have the cable not in properly like i do i was say there for 10 minutes thinking hmmm this is a bit odd then i realise the cable wasn’t in properly you have to turn it and click it take great care doing it line up the slots with the doohickeys in the jack slow on the head phones in order to e sure you have it slotted in right and then twist it so it is locked in very clever. Now the actual headphones are comfortable and block out all the sound almost. The sound they produce is crisp, and responsive in all the frequencies the bass is less than my other pair but far superior it isn’t sogg or flabby it is very tight and yummy obviously the headphones need some running in first so give it time i played some drum and bass, rock, classical, jazz and hip hop through mine all sound very good with classical and jazz sounding the best i thought 🙂 they are considered studio monitors but i find they make excellent music listening headphones too because of the quality of the reproduction they are warm and comfortable too.

Lovely musical headphones – allow a little time to run in and the result is a super flat musical experience.

These are fantastic headphones. The sound quality is incredible as it is so flat. Although i do agree with other reviewers, it is quite bass light. They are extremely comfy as well, they do hurt the top of my head sometimes but this is after wearing them for a couple of hours, and normally can be fixed by merely moving them on my head slightly. It needs to be clear that these aren’t portable headphones. They come with a nice bag so i can put them in a rucksack so in terms of transportation they are portable but i wouldn’t wear them walking in a street. The cable is way too long, over 2 meters. It isn’t practical therefore.

First let me say i’m reviewing these for general listening use rather than specifically studio/mixing use, if you’re looking at these for studio/mixing use then you may want to skip over my review. Build and quality:the kns 8400’s are of a lightweight plastic construction with an integrated metal band, a detachable stiff (anti-tangle) 2. 5mm cable with a proprietary locking mechanism, and non-replaceable memory foam ear pads and head band pads. Frankly non-replaceable ear pads is surprising in headphones in this price range an probably limits the headphone life to a couple of years, they are however very comfortable. The headband pads are a mixed bag and you may find the comfortable or not depending on your head shape etc, it comprises two separate pads rather than one continuous pad and this does increase the pressure at those points which may be uncomfortable for some. I don’t like the lightweight plastic on the cans, they leak quite a bit of sound, not very badly but compared to other closed headphones they don’t provide great isolation. The plastic is also quite hard and transmits sound really badly from the cable, which is also stiff just compounding the problem, if you need to use these in a situation where you move around a lot then the rubbing and knocking sounds coming up the cable might drive you a bit nuts. Sound:the 8400’s undoubtedly have great mids, extreme clarity and detail, the highs can border on fatiguing but are also generally very good, the bass however is somewhat understated, perhaps a few db below neutral. The overall sound is very flat and the soundstage is pretty much neutral, like listening in a sound dampened closet, close and flat.

Excellent monitor / studio headphones, don’t buy these if you are after a nice bass driven sound because they are designed for studio use so produce a very flat sound response. The top end is crisp and clear and they are great for stereo imaging and finer detail editing. I wouldn’t use them for final mastering though because i find i tend to be slightly heavy on the sub-bass when i mix through them. But as an overall set of studio cans these are well built and sound great for the price.

I’m a bit of a studio headphone snob but have tried enough to know that paying the really huge money isn’t always worth it. Generally i’d say 180 quid is a good ‘sweet spot’ to find exceptional products where there’s little point paying more – although £100 can get you something good if you choose well. Well, first off, krk is known for monitor speakers, much less for headphones. So to gain traction they needed something good and, boy, did they deliver. These have been, it seems, designed to meet what music makers want – accurate, durable, light. Sound is definite on a par with products twice the price. Flat, yes, but not dull and fatiguing – in fact these are great for listening to your music collection. They are not as tough-looking as some headphones but after a year durability has been good and the plastic in the construction means they are lighter than many competitors, which is you enjoy mammoth music-making sessions is a great boost. All i can say is that for £99 you really won’t find better. Even if spending £180+ you might still choose these.

Really great for mixing late at night. Really noise isolating and so comfy. Sound great just like my rokit monitors. I only use these headphones now for music.

Spent ages looking and trying different headphones, and bought these as a ‘risk’ and without trying them – am pleased to say the gamble paid off. I’m already a krk user having the rokit 6’s as my preferred studio monitors – these headphones simply add to the monitoring capabilities i know have. Great bass, mid and top clarity – and comfortable into the bargain. With so many headphones on the market at present, the only advice i can give is to take the chance and try them out for yourself. Anyone working in the sound or studio business will not be disappointed with the krk 8400’s.
