Audio-Technica ATH-M20X Professional Headphones -, Took a chance based on reviews. For Djing

I am utilizing these predominantly with the line six helix guitar processor, and they have a pleasant flat reaction so excellent for obtaining my patch tones established as they must be without having any tonal speaker color. They also sound good with tunes mp3’s and so forth. They are comfy to have on (quite bulky which is regular for studio use) and have a respectable length cable but the cables are not detachable. In general they are really excellent studio headphones for the selling price.

A great manufacturer i continue on to rely on.

I’ve never had over ear headphones and wanted to try some just for things whilst i’m gaming. Read so much about this series and the reviews were right. Such clarity and even tones.

Very very pleased with these. I work full time as a video editor and needed headphones to use to a high standard that also weren’t too expensive to wear around town or on the tube. These headphones have really been great so far and exactly what i wanted. I enjoy drum & bass and the low-end sound recreation on these is particularly good, they offer a clear representative sound that’s accurate for video editing and are good and loud when plugged into a pc or phone. The headphones also have quite a powerful grip on your head which i find isolates your ears well from the outside world and also helps in hearing he various different layers of audio your chosen music may be pumping out. These headphones do have a long cable but to be honest i just coil it up with a twist tie when walking around and it’s a massively useful thing to have when your pc is tucked away far from your desk or you’re trying to kick back and watch tv with these on. Build quality seems really solid and i’ve found them comfy for long hours at the office so far, overall delighted with my purchase – especially for the money.

The sound is richyou can hear other things. . The true soundit is not like very cheap headsets.
Really high quality headphones. The cable is about 2 and a half meters longnot for taking out on the train or slinging into a bag or pocket. I will keep at home as my studio headphones as they sound good and feel really well made.

My last set of headphones were klipsch image ii which are extremely bass heavy. It is taking a while to get used to the crisp, clear sound. I can hear things with the audio technica’s that i’ve never heard in tracks before. The bass response is good, but not overpowering and the mids and highs are just breathtakingly accurate. They are comfortable even with glasses and have a really long cable so you could plug these into the tv to watch a movie and sit on the couch without difficulty.

These headphones are pretty decent sounding, and come as a no-frills piece of audio equipment. There is no bluetooth facility, so they need to be plugged into a audio 3. 5 mm jack socket on your hi-fi amplifier or computer. There is a long lead provided for this. So what is the sound quality like?as always the best way to judge speakers or headphones is to make sure you have a good quality and familiar source to start with. Listening to 2 excellent cd recordings i know well, genesis – trick of the tail and dianne reeves – quiet after the storm, instruments in the former and vocals in the latter come across very nicely. Bass is just sufficiently weighty, but it is very clear and distinct, especially when listening to jazz. With sound cards how clear or punchy bass can be, depends on configuration as well as quality. High and mid-range frequencies also come through well. But instrument separation is one of the strong points of these headphones.

Have been mixing for 20 years and these have randomly ended up being some of my faves.

Got the audio-technical ath-m20x headphones to replace my 10 year old sennheiser. I was so impressed with how the ath-m20x looked and felt. Good padding on the ears and head and comfy too. Most importantly what the sound like. I have to say there are great, they have a neutral sound and i feel the bass sounds sharper and cleaner. You can pick out the instruments playing and i rally think there a big improvement. For the price i think you would be hard pushed to find a better sounding set of headphones. Also find i play them down about 20% where the sennheiser were up around 35%. Very little sound leak and i now find i cant hear the door bell so that the only problem i have had.

These are good headphones for listening to music on. I tried using them to mix and master in my recording room but i did not feel they were accurate enough. I use them on my ipad and and they sound great. They are comfy, with a good bass and treble response. Excellent value, for the price.

Superb audio technica quality 5 stars for crystal clear sound.
To inform the potential customer, that i’m not audiophile to the day the least, nor do i have an ambition to be. I simply wish to share my experience of these delightful headphones, within the context of studio mixing, monitoring and production. Essentially i required a subsequent closed- design pair of headphones to conduct nocturnal mixing upon, which render sonic clarity at an affordable price. These fit the ability, in my opinion. In comparison to my other existing headphones; sennheiser hd 598 and beyerdynamic dt-150. Sonically, the ath-m20 fill- in the void in terms of frequency between the dt-150s and sennheiser hd-598. To my ears the midrange – upper midrange 100hz-1khz, are tremendously clear on the ath-m20’s. In fact i i prefer to mix, eq , and gain stage on the ath- m20’s than my aforementioned headphones. To check out the low frequencies , i’ll reference with the hd-598’s, and use the dt-150’s for the high. Cons:i find the clasp of the mth-20’s headband design a little tight which you might get used too.

Light and comfortable for prolonged use. Very long cable is handy and it doesn’t tangle.

The sound is very clear, all sounds are levelled equally which is great for editing music. Two issues, mainly about comfort: 1 they are so tight on the head, (my ears normally hear buzzing and ringing) but with these headphones i can hear this noise even more. This happens with or without music playing. This shouldn’t be an issue if your ears don’t buzz?.2 the leather pads were quite tough, not soft, became very uncomfortable after half hour of wearing them. I sort of resolved this by using some softer fabric pads. It’s a shame, but i don’t want to spend tons of money just to get a clear, levelled sound. So for the price of these, great sound. The build is plastic fantastic, so we’ll see how long they last.
